A Letter to my Students

By Anna Latimer, 2019-2020 Literacy First Tutor

Dear students,

During this time, it is good for us to take note of and voice our feelings. I would like to share mine with you.

First of all, I am sad. I am sad that I did not get to properly send you off to your spring break. I am sad that your “spring break” got extended like this. I am sad because I cannot come to school every day to see each of your wonderful faces. I am sad because I miss you.

I miss your smiles. I miss your laughs. I miss our high fives, our cheers, and our happy dances. I miss hearing your precious voices sounding out words, reading sentences, and sharing with me stories from your lives. I miss spending quality time together every day. I miss teaching you reading, and I miss having you all teach me things, too!

It is sad to be apart, and we miss our time together. But we are not without hope. I hope that you all are home, safe, and well. I hope that you are spending quality time with your families. I hope that you are learning cool things – like how to bake a pie, how to score a soccer goal, or how to draw a dinosaur. I hope you are doing the things you like to do, and taking the time to try out new things. I hope that you take time to read at home, either by yourself, with your parents, or a younger sibling.

I hope that we make the most of this blessing of extra time that we have been given. I hope that we rest, rejuvenate, and come back ready for an awesome time back at school.

Most of all, I hope to see you again soon.

Love, Your Tutor
